We have departed considerably from the techtalk paradigm. And not leveraging MCMS. Yet. But it's all good, works, naw? FTM. See what happens when we add another entry...

Jedi master Chomsky wrote an essay 'Crisis and Hope' after I wrote 'Crisis and Opportunity'. Do I imagine that means anything? Of course not. I mean, I hope we're all paying attention but I don't delude myself the man has time to waste trolling my backwaters. Still get a kick outta it tho.

He has all the rigour I wish I had. Should I go to grad school? Mayhap, mayhap. But I do have some silliness he lacks. Shall I give that up? 40 years old and people have trouble believing it. My classmates have gone on to NASA, MIT, what have I done? Well now, that is a very large and hairy question. I have seen some of the world. That project takes precedence. I have done very little harm. That's a priority. I hope I've lightened some lives, I hope I've helped some think about what's real. It's rather horrible to imagine that Cher may be dead. But that's real.

I will say in my absurdobadbuddhistnihilistic defence, it doesn't matter. I love ya Noam, but we are beating our fists against entropy. And Kathrin I still have to posit that if you disagree with him on point of fact you are probably mistaken. Opinions, OK, Pinker reminded me, some of us are more idealistic than others. But facts, Dershowitz did likewise, are not flexible. Listen to what people say. Langacker's criticism of causality reeks of strawman. Alan just reminds me that lawyers have little interest in truth or justice. Lawyers have an interest in winning. I'm glad you didna got that way, A.

So what have I achieved? Is it possible to achieve anything? The effort is worthwhile because it gives one something to do but great care should be exercised that what you are doing is not unnecessarily harmful to other living beings. I hope that's not an opinion. Because I have much to do. I will already leave behind networks, peculiar web applications and irritated people. I used to be invited to cocktail parties because my abrasiveness guaranteed some entertainment. So I believe they believed. Now I will leave behind a great deal of half-baked content and a bizarre Content Management System only I could use. And maybe some history students who think. I don't know, time was short and that isn't really allowed here. But we should work together and we should be careful if we want to survive. Naive Egocentric Catastrophism most certainly does not mean that we can't destroy ourselves. Will I give up my netbook? Will I starve? Will the next entry work?
